WTC Barcelona’s Central Plaza Transformed

Opening | September 2024

A vibrant new public space has opened at the PCF&P-designed World Trade Center complex on Barcelona’s waterfront.

At a September celebration marking its 25th anniversary, Barcelona’s World Trade Center welcomed the public to a new gathering place at the heart of the complex. The revitalized plaza—designed by José Bruguera, a lead designer of the original building—features an orange grove at its center, framed by four generous triangular sunshades and a variety of open and sheltered spaces for collaboration, dining, and recreation. The transformation is the cornerstone of WTC’s strategic vision for the waterfront complex as a place for both work and meeting—attractive to the citizens of Barcelona as well as the international business community—where visitors and residents alike can enjoy the maritime ambience and stunning views of the Mediterranean.
